About Jess Hill

There are many people who share my name; I’d like to distinguish this Jess Hill so you can get to know me and what I do.

I originally set out to work in sports, gaining a Masters degree in Sport Administration from Temple University. It was because of this program that I was introduced to SEO. I became the webmaster for a grad class and created this duesy – 2004 Sport Admin 501 Corporation Website – in FrontPage.

To pay for my education, I stumbled upon a job at Access Media Group, which I landed because of my FrontPage website. At AMG, I was in charge of ad placement and reporting for AllAboutVision.com and soon I was learning all about the wonders of SEO.

My educational path took me out to San Diego to intern at Elite Racing, now Competitor Group, learning how to coordinate 5Ks, half-marathons and marathons for thousands of runners. As a runner since the 4th grade, this internship was right up my alley. I’m going to break here and give a shameless shout out to the Dickinson Red Devils Track & Field team, where I still hold the school record for the heptathlon, former record holder of the pentathlon and both indoor and outdoor high jump.

After finishing school I didn’t see a quick path to realizing my dream, so I decided to pursue the opportunities within the SEO community. I moved back to Philly and joined the SEER Interactive team on my birthday. Working at SEER was a great experience, and I gained so much knowledge from the wonderful people there.

In 2012 I decided to embark on a new journey – self-employment. I took all of the items I put in my pocket over the years and applied them to starting my own consulting business. Self-employment was a great experience and lead me to a full time gig with one of my original clients, 99designs. I also began coaching for the Hallahan Track & Field Team as well.

I’m still consulting on the side, and here are the SEO services I offer.

Fun Facts

Miss Kitty

  • I have a cat named Miss Kitty. I adopted Kitty from my Grandmom after she could no longer care for her. Kitty likes to wake me up in the middle of the night, but I love her anyway.
  • Sports are a passion of mine. I fully support the Phillies, Eagles and Flyers – 76ers when they are good, but I don’t really like pro basketball. I ran and jumped competitively for 13 years, and I still I run occasionally. I completed my first and only half marathon in Chicago in 2013 in a blistering time of 1:55:38. Now I play volleyball and kickball. By the way, this is the worst kickball team ever.
  • Traveling is another passion of mine. I studied in Spain for a semester while at Dickinson. I have traveled to a number of other countries in Europe – Italy, France, Ireland, England, Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Poland, Slovakia – spent a few days in Morocco, just made my first trip to Melbourne, Australia and have been diving into the US. Just in 2015, I’ve visited San Francisco, various parts of Ohio, Nashville, Pittsburgh, the Corvette Museum and Jim Beam distillery in Kentucky, Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, all over Montana, Sioux Falls, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. I’m planning more.
  • I’m 5’10” – taller than most.
